Question - do any of the aftermarket pads not squeal when backing up like the stock Akebonos do? The stock pads have always started to do this once they get a few miles on them, and I'd love to get rid of that issue.
Not sure. But my stoptech's squeal when I back up.

I have no issues using akebono brakes. Reinstall using fresh hardware and plenty of brake lube.

I also find most warped rotors aren't warped and they don't need resurfacing. Rust forming where the hub annd rotor mate is definitely the biggest culprit. Whenever i install new brakes on my car i make sure to scrub the rust off the hubs mating surface and apply a bit of brake grease to prevent corrosion.

i suspect most mechanics getting paid book rate aren't scrubbing your hubs with scotchbrite and tightening your lugnuts to 80 ft/lbs

Thanks. Must be the overall design that keeps the dust in and that contributes to the issue.

Aside from lubricating all the contact points, you might consider anti-drag clips as well
