Ever since installing the KW V3 Coilovers I've been scraping really bad. I noticed that my rear was a lot lower than expected so I adjusted the Coilover to the highest possible setting and even then I still feel like it's too low.

It's also time to get new tires and I'm leaning towards getting the new Michelin Pilot Sport 4S. Would getting a bigger tire size help lift the car a little bit? Currently my set up is 20x8.5 Front 245/35/20 Tire and 20x9.5 Rear 275/30/20 Tire. I was thinking of upgrading my tires to 255/45/20 Front and 285/35/20 Rear in hopes that it would lift my car.

The only other two options that come to mind is ordering the spring spacers from KW. They come in 15mm, 30mm, and 50mm sizes. Or to get an air cup kit installed. I live in California and Phantom Suspension by Platinum VIP is close by so I considering them for the cup kit as a last resort if nothing else works to lift the rear.

Any advice and suggestions are greatly appreciated.

 

It looks like you may have been sent shorter rear springs, I've not seen coupes that low on KWs when set to the highest point (the sedans this is a problem, but even for them that's real low). You might try to confirm the spring length, hopefully there's a part# stamped on them, if they are correct then an extender from KW would be the plan.

 

I also have V3's on my IPL and that is the same situation. I am at the highest setting on the rear because anything lower and I wouldn't be able to get up my driveway. I actually blew a front strut so am sending them in to be rebuilt and when they come back I will be ordering the spacers for the rear. I wouldn't bother messing around with cups unless you go for the full ride suspension

 

Dang, that's saying a lot for some of the best coil overs out there, I'm pretty disappointed. Do these also adjust height by twisting the barrel into the body of the coilover or only by the spanners? I know some shocks can be adjusted both ways.

 

Preload only. And that spacer negates KW's warranty.

 

Wow, I only thought the slammed rear was a problem for the Sedans on KWs, good information to know for sure!

 

For the same money (new), you can get Aragosta Type-S dampers. Far superior, complete with upper mount, lower weight, easier to adjust and you're not only able to go low but set the car at stock height if you so desire. You can go with the Type E and save a few hundred too.

 

Exactly how much are they? Last time I checked they were like $3200

 

That's only if you buy them through Bulletproof which tacks on a full $1000 to the actual price. You can buy them directly from Japan, shipped to your door. Usually takes two weeks max. There's a rundown of how and where to purchase in my "choosing the right coilovers" sticky.

On KW V1s. Was about a half inch higher before this, and still wasn't maxed out at the top.

 

I am on KW v3s. Drop is very subtle at 0.8"
