Akebono conversion aftermath...

So i have these Akebonos installed for little more than a week now and while they are working great, a couple of things have me concerned.

1. occasionally my brakes will squeal (rather loudly) during reverse braking. moving forward there is no squeal whatsoever. whats causing squealing when im going in reverse?

2. i noticed that there is more vibration in the accelerator at cruising speed (45+ mph) than there was before and the road/tire noise is more prominent. could be coincidence but i swear it was not as noticeable prior to the new brakes. any ideas whats causing this or am i just paranoid?

I hear reverse squeal is normal for us. My 13 ipl does it. The vibration isnt so double check your work or have your wheels rebalanced

check your rear pads... load is on the rear when braking on reverse and she just maybe low..
or if it only happens initially and disappears after you reverse brake some more.. then it could be a layer of rust on the rotors..

Do you experience wheel shudder under breaking? Make sure your your hub mounting surface and both rotor mounting surfaces are clean. Take a wire brush on a drill to them and clean away all the rust and debris.

no shuddering under braking and the pads are new when i installed the calipers. ive noticed it only does it after the car is parked for a long time. im hoping the squealing is just the rust.

as for the vibration, i'll try rebalancing the wheels to see if that doesnt help.

The shuddering is most likely from the rotors, were they new?

The Akebonos, like most 4-piston calipers, squeal when cold. Either keep applying anti-squeal to the backs of the pads or accept it as the entry fee into the He Man's Brake Club.

im always backing out of my garage.. no squealing
calipers whether it be 4 6 or 2 pistons are usually not the culprit of squealing... its typically a contact issue with either the pads or rotors or both..
if you have a piston issue. its usually an actuating problem..

m3clubracing might have a point... if these were used rotors.. they could be warped... for your shuddering problem..
