Finally! (Akebono)

Been a long time since I've been wanting the bigger brakes on my 2010 xS sedan, and I finally made it happen. Install took about 5-6 hours. The shop north of Chicago that did it for me was absolutely meticulous about every little detail. PM me if you're in the North burbs and need any work done. I'll pass on their info.

I'll take more pics of the full car here soon. But I'll tell you. There's a huge difference now.

Went with the Stoptech SS lines, Centric Posi-Quiet pads (no plans to track), and drlled/dimpled black zinc coated rotors from BrakePerformance.com (Keep checking them for sales).

Huge thanks to blnewt and everyone else who participated in this thread:

You made it happen for me.

Nice rotors!!! I just upgraded mine too but with the plain rotors. I wanted to get the drilled and slotted rotors too but my budget was tight after other mods. Next time I'll go with rotors like yours for sure.

I ended up going with dimple/slotted from BP. Can't go wrong either way!

I went with Mobile One Inc. in Glenview. If Project X was still in Glenview, I would have gone with them, no questions. That being said, Mobile One Inc. is totally legit and I would trust them completely.

Not much of a full shot. By the time I walked back out to my car, I just wanted to be back in the A/C.

Thanks for the suggestion. Will keep them in mind. I guess you're planning on hanging on to your car too. Got an extended warranty or going to take your chances?

No extended warranty. They always manage to find an "out" to not cover something in my experience.

I have been looking at a few other cars, but I only have 52k miles on this one. I'll see where I'm at next year.

Looks great all around. Glad the install went well & you found a good shop to do the work.
What wheel specs are you running & how much room did you have for the calipers in front. Always nice to know when referring wheels to folks w/ BBKs.
Those rotors look nice back there too.

19x8.5 I think the offset is +28. I had the wheels sitting a long time before I put them on. They clear the Akebono calipers just fine. I was worried about the balancing weights on the front wheels, but they proved to be a non-issue.

Thanks for putting that thread together!
