Best Possible Suspension Modification for AWD coupe
Best Possible Suspension Modification for AWD coupe
We all know there are many topics and posts. And options seem to be very limited, and I have not read anything definitive. But as of today regardless of cost, what is the best possible option? Experiences, opinions, suggestions... Thanks.
Get a big fat sway bar for (at the least) the rear. The stock one is thin. I got the Hotchkiss set and the difference is so palpable I think it's the overall value-added mod for our cars (with RHFCs coming in at a close 2nd).
But yes, the rear sway bar is a HUGE upgrade that you will notice immediately, in a good way. There is definitely room for improvement, especially on the AWD suspension.
I would recommend going with a progressive lowering spring and rear sway bar combination. I have Eibach springs and find them to be a good balance of performance and ride comfort, but the Swift springs are also currently being tested and those have good reviews as well (They are about a month away from production). For the sway bar I'd recommend purchasing a RWD sway bar for an OEM piece that doesn't require maintenance greasing, or you can go with an aftermarket option that will need to be regularly greased to prevent it from squeaking. The OEM RWD bar will provide a noticeable improvement, but the aftermarket bar will provide adjustability and additional stiffness, if desired.
There isn't a great coilover option for the AWD G in my opinion. The BC coilovers have the notorious hit or miss clunking and the Fortune Auto coilovers are OK, but have not been on the market long enough to see how they fare over time. Ideally, KW would have an offering for us, but this is not the case.
I just purchased a 13 G37 X Sport...it has 19 in sport wheels...I assume it has the same rear sway bar as the RWD sport....I have all the GT spec Bracing and Tannabe exaust from my previous car...the Tannabe will not work on the all wheel drive....I have not analized weather any of the GT Spec bracing will fit as well. Probably will have to leave this car stock...
UP DATE..The Tannabe exaust axel back does fit...GT Spec bracing fits as well..changed tires to Pilot Super Sport 245 40 19..nice fitment... also added Hotchis sways front and rear...handling is great..
