Video 08 G37s coup metallic noise
Hello All,
About a week ago I had a local Nissan dealership put on a pair of stoptech rotors on my 08 g37s coupe. Tonight I was at a stop light making a 90 degree right hand turn when I felt a violent Thunp.. I looked in my review thinking I hit something that was in the road but it was clear. I don't know if the rotor job is related but now I have a very loud metallic sound that seems to come from my right front wheel area. After carefully driving home I shook and tapped all around the breaks trying to duplicate the sound. Under the car looks normal and nothing is leaking. I drove around my parking garage and the noise is loud as shown in the attached vid. I do have 20" Wheels and spacers that have been on the car for almost a year everything else is stock.
Any ideas Ladies and Gents??

OMG I cannot believe this. I just posted a similar question today and just logged into see if anyone answered my question and saw this post. Your video is my car sound exactly!!! I just started hearing the sound on and off since mid December. Tonight when pulling into my garage I determined that it seems to be coming from the passenger front wheel.
Well in a turn of events the Nissan tech who drove me home, who also told me it was 100% the dust shield was either wrong or telling the truth. I received a phone call later from Nissan pointing the finger at my spacers as the problem. I am no mechanic but the sound coming from my car does not seem to me would come from any spacers. By the way I do not have BS Spacers on my car and only had them for a year. Seems like I'm being taken for a ride. Dealerships typically like to point the blame on aftermarket parts to clear their name. Now if im wrong ill admit it but its just my 2cents

I left it over night so i will update tomorrow how much they squeeze out of me but not before they explaine exactly what was wrong. I will be asking for drawn diagrams and all. They seem to know exactly how to fix it. I'm sure it is nothing more than that stupid dust shield needing to be fixed. The downsides of living in a city apartment with no garage.
Well I am a female and really no absolutely nothing about cars. I have no idea what a spacer is lol. I'm going to take it to a tire place tomorrow and have them pull the wheel off and see if it's the dust shield. By the way, what causes the dust shield to do that? Does it get bent?

its not really a male/female thing. I know 2 females right now that would make me look stupid talking about cars. Anyway I came up with the bright idea to have them take pics. so as soon as they open I will call and request pics of the problem. if for some reason than can no provide pics or they say my car is already finished then I know they are slime because my appointment is for 3:00pm today
The dust shields are pretty easily bent while working on a heels, brakes, and suspension. They are thin sheet metal. You can simply take off the wheel and spin the rotor to see and hear if it's rubbing anywhere. Then simply bend it back into place with just your hands.
Update, I took it to my garage today and found out my mechanic is no longer there and they have now hired some new guy which I'm not sure about yet, lol. But if course the G didn't make any noise the entire time there not 2 and from there. Then he looked under the hood and said he thought I had an oil leak, then checked my synthetic oil and said it looked good and full then said maybe it's power steering fluid. Omg I'm ready to scream I just want to know what the freakin noise is and have it fixed!!!
So I went and picked up my car yesterday evening. The Service Rep did take pics as I requested. one of the pics showed a random nut that came off of my spacers inside the brake caliper. Of course they claimed to not be able to get it with a magnetic tool and had to take the caliper apart. I don't know if any of this was true but it cost me another $54. My car is no longer making the noise now and is ok. I suspect that plate was just bent and they found a way to squeeze some extra cash out of me. Its the risk we take when we go to any mechanic.
