Akebono proact , hawk or project mu.

Hey guys, I need new brake pads. I got the dba 2 piece 5000 series rotors. I'm thinking of akebono pro act since they don't require a bed in, and pepboys has a deal on them for 84 bucks. Or should I go with hawk or project mu? And if so, which ones?

ProAct, I have them and they are completely silent and have great stopping power at a great price. Plenty of stopping power and much more friendly for a daily driven car if you are not a fan of squealing, poor cold performance etc. I've had Hawk HPS pads before and when its really cold, it felt like I needed to open the door and stick my foot out to help stop the car until they warmed up. When warm though, they would have slightly more stopping power. Unless you track the car though, how often are you in need of 100% of your brakes potential? I can tell you how often you will be annoyed when they squeal, 100% of the time.

Since you've already went with 2pc rotors why not complete the upgrade and get some PMU or EBC pads and some SS lines. Just my $.02

Are any of these carbon ceremic pads? Last time i put pads on my old g35 i got some from Stillen, think they were Hawks but not sure but they were carbon ceremic. were suppose to stop better, less abrasive to the rotors and less dust. i had black chrome wheels and i hated to clean the every day or listen to the squeel. Once i changed the pads to those it was much quieter and wayy less dust. seemed to stop as good as new too. Just curious. i mentioned it to the deaer when i changed my wifes EX pads and they said they didnt reccomend them. i just thought it was because it didnt eat the rotor so fast and they made more money. anyone know for sure?

I run the same DBA 5k-s with braided lines and the PMU B-spec pads. I have minor squeaking every now and then. Initial bite is nothing to write home about, but boy once you get them hot, that's where it all comes together. I do track days though so if I didnt, I would probably pick a softer pad.
