Steering wheel off center

Hi all,

I have a peculiar situation. My car does not pull to one side or the other when driving but the wheel is off center when I drive the car straight. Specifically, the wheel is a few rotated a few degrees counter clockwise. Its not totally bad but its noticeable enough to make the car look cheap.

My question is, how difficult would it be to correct this? Luckily my car is under warranty but I wanted to check with the community first since I am not sure if this is one of those things where more harm can be done in trying to fix it.

Any input would be appreciated, thanks!

The same exact thing happens to me, and I did get it aligned at the dealership. Not sure how else to fix it.

Same thing here. The dealership just isn't that great at getting it set up correctly when doing an alignment. I've taken it back 3 times, then gave up.

I might try a different independent shop next.

Funny thing is, before my alignment, everything was perfect. But after doing an alignment after getting new tires (because that's what we're supposed to do?), I have this problem.

I should have left it alone.

Thanks guys, the off center steering wheel really bugs me. I think I am going to take it into the dealer to get it aligned then.

@cruzmisl, same thing happened to me. I got new tires and since you "need" to get alignment done aftewards I did, and then for some reason that means turn the steering wheel at a slant to go straight.

Had the same issue with the dealership when they replaced my differential bushing under warranty. They tried to do the alignment but messed up toe and camber and said it was the best they could do. Took it to a shop that only do alignments and got it exactly where I wanted within 0.01 of what I asked for.

Sounds like your toe is out of adjustment. Easily remedied with an alignment.

So I'm surprised noone has asked this yet... Has the steering wheel been like this since you got the car?

If it has, then there is a chance that someone (maybe the dealership you bought it at) took the steering wheel off at some point for some reason. Do the 2013s have the same stock bezel as the 08s, or did they fix that material on the later models?

When you put the steering wheel back on, there are a ton of splines that you slip the wheel back onto. If they replaced this at an "off" angle, then that's your problem right there...

+1 with the alignment that usually fixed all of my off centered steering wheels.
