Braking performance - Journey vs. Akebono vs. aftermarket
New owner of a 2011 g37 sedan, Journey trim. My 2007 sedan was recently totaled by a red light-running jackass, but I managed a nice upgrade for myself
Thinking about brake upgrades (and suspension, and exhaust, LOL), and was wondering what the performance differences are between the Journey brakes currently, and the Akebono's, and some of the more reasonably priced aftermarket options.
Looking for better stopping power, pedal feel (and looks)
I put slotted rotors, posiquiet pads, SS brakelines and ATE blue fluid in my '07 and enjoyed the improvement. The 2011's brakes are a bit squishy right now, and rotors could use turning.

If you have the wheels that will clear the Akebonos that's the most cost efficient option. Here's a thread I put together if you want to source all the parts yourself.

If you buy the kits they run about $1400
You'll also need a spare that will clear the BBK so that's another $200 give or take.
