102,715 miles

That's what's on the clock when I changed rear brake pads for the first time today. Not too bad. There was actually a couple of mm left on all of them. I could have kept them a bit longer.

Wow that's crazy that they went that long. Did you have the dreaded reverse brake squeal? How's the rest of the car holding up?

No brake squeal at all. The car is generally pretty good aside from the normal issues. I've got horrendous interior rattles everywhere. I've got a relatively stiff suspension but it's ridiculous. Some suspension noises that I need to pin down and fix. Poor paint quality. But she's still running well and still fun to drive. I still have people telling me what an awesome car I drive all the time.

We'll see how the second hundred K miles go with boost. If the parts ever materialize.

wow that must be some kinda record!
interior rattles and poor paint are not too serious as long as mechanically the car holds up.

i fixed the paint issue with a full repaint, still slowly fixing the interior rattles

Serious pad life there
Guess you don't stop much
When I changed mine at 50k I had plenty of pad left, now I wonder how long I could have gone

BB, do you do a lot of highway? Either ways thats impressive.

What kind of preventative maintenance have you done on them over the last 6 years and 102,715 miles? Our brakes seem very low maintenance, but still curious to know if you did anything with them.

Interesting BB, I am on my 3rd set of pads. The first change right after I purchased the car which had 50k miles on it. The second time at 88,000, this is because I added slotted and drilled rotors thus changing the pads as well.

This post makes me wonder though; either you guys rarely stop in Texas (doubtful) or the previous owner of my car lived on the brakes.

Regardless, 102,715 is impressive!

Cheers!

I commute about 30 miles each way to work from the burbs to the city - almost all freeway the whole way. Before that I had a job where I travelled across about half of Texas so the majority of those miles have been on the highway. That helps. But most of our brake bias is in the front. I really haven't done maintenance on the brakes other than flushing the fluid at least once a year or so. I changed the front pads a while back when I got the RB 2 piece rotors. I avoid driving through puddles with hot brakes. That's about it.
