StopTech Street Performance Brake Pads

I guess not much of a review but pretty upset about how much dust these break pads create
I like to keep my G clean from top to bottom, in and out but with these dusty break pads, good luck.....I can not keep my rims clean !!
Changed all the pads a couple of weeks ago and for the price I paid I thought I was getting good quality pads. I clean the rims and a couple of days later they are back to being dusty and dirty.

Im to the point that I want to get rid of these pads and get something else

Right now I went to the garage and took a couple of pictures...not really good lighting but I cleaned a little spot to see the contrast.
Cleaned them Monday and I drive about 30 miles a day.

Wow, this is good to see. I was considering these pads for when i'm ready. However after seeing these pics i'll stay away. I'm like you and like to keep my wheels clean. What are you going to switch too? The oem akebono's squealing in reverse is getting freaking annoying

I did notice that the squealing stopped with these pads.
The OEM would make noise early morning when I would reverse out of my garage.....but, I would take the one time squealing over crappy looking dirty rims

Try waxing your rims - it will cut down on how much brake dust sticks to them.

Thats not bad. I have Hawk ceramics which are suppose to be slightly less braking power but much less dust.

Well the braking power part is right, but the dust is like what you show except its orange in color.

Going back to OEM even if I get the squealing when going in reverse early mornings

I haven't heard anything other than good things about the Akebono ProACT. Most reviews state it is an improvement over OEM. Less/no squeal, OEM stopping power, and minimal break dust. It is also nice that the pads are made by Akebono since they built the braking system. They are also priced very reasonably.

What Akebono says:

Akebono's advanced ProACT™ Ceramic Disc Pads, Original Equipment on many of North America's most popular cars, light trucks and sport utility vehicles, are ideal OEM replacement components and the perfect performance option for drivers looking to upgrade from conventional pads.

Akebono Ceramic Technology (ACT) helps to reduce the brake noise (squealing and grinding), vibration and harshness (NVH) problems associated with some aftermarket brake products. Ceramic technology also produces ultra-low dusting for cleaner wheels and tires and fosters minimal wear on the brake rotor.

Other advantages of ProACT™ ceramic brake pads include:

Unrivaled “initial effectiveness” with no required break-in period
Ultra-quiet, positive and smooth braking performance
High resistance to fade with fast recovery
More consistent pedal feel for driver confidence
NVH control is further optimized by the fact that ProACT™ Ceramic Disc Pads are designed for specific models, as well as powder-coat finished and harmonically damped.

Good luck!

Akebono has their Performance Ultra line as well. Where does that fall into the spectrum?

So I understand you give the pads an unfavorable review because they're dusty...

How well do they stop compared to stock? How about when cold/wet? This is a performance brake bad, more dust is expected. If looks is important to you over stopping ability, stick with a stock pad.

There is another review thread on here evaluating the actual braking properties - https://www.myg37.com/forums/brakes-...rake-pads.html .

Jsolo, as I said on my original post; not much of a review but Im just upset about about how much dust these pads create.
They do a great job stopping the car, as they should, and the squealing did stop with these pads Vs the OEM but I rather take the one-time morning squealing than the nasty dirty rims

k, have to go wash my rims mow

Going back to the OEM

Let's see: The head of Audi, Dr Ferdinand Pisch, has said "European drivers would rather their brakes STOP the car, no matter what the cosmetics are. But the American driver would rather the brakes NOT squeek nor dust, whether or not the car stops." KIND OF MAKES IT HARD TO COMPOUND A PAD FOR AMERICAN DRIVERS......................
