Finally lowering my G - need advice on spacers & installation cost

Hello all,

Sorry if this topic has been addressed before, I promise I searched before making a new thread. I just couldn't find advice specific enough. After seeing what kind of results various springs deliver for the G coupe, I decided I wanted to go with the Eibach Pro Kit springs to mostly close that ugly front gap and get the car a little lower. From what I'm seeing online, I can expect to be paying about $240 shipped for the springs themselves, but I'm not quite sure what would be a reasonable price for someone to install them. I'm gonna call my local places on Monday and see what they can do, because I unfortunately don't have the time, nor the tools to put the springs on myself.

Once my car is lowered, I'd like to get some 20mm spacers as well, as I'm going for a look like this. As far as the brand of spacers, does it really matter as long as they're hubcentric and have the studs built-in? I was looking at Ichiba V2 spacers, but I've seen some people claim that H&R and Eibach are better. I'm already aware that the Ichibas have a vibration issue, but it sounds like the solution is pretty simple by just making a crush washer with copper wire. Thoughts on this?

Ultimately, I'd like my car's stance to be like this when all's said and done:

you'll have to really call around for the spring install, the price can very a few hundred dollars between shops. The install is pretty simple and strightforward w/ the spring compression being the toughest (and most dangerous) part if you've never done it before. Expect to pay somewhere in the 300-500dollar range. If you can remove the front springs, take them to a shop and have them switch out the springs that should save you all but about $100. The only tools you would need if you sent out the springs would be a 2 ft. breaker bar, some PB blast (to make the bolts loosen easier), jack/stands.
If you go as low as the pic you posted you may need some camber/toe kits, really depends on each vehicle as some do & some don't, and also the shop doing the alignment. Some shops that deal in lowered vehicles more often are usually able to get to spec easier than shops that deal primarily w/ stock vehicles. If you do need camber/toe kits expect a minimum of $60 for the rear toe bolts, another $130 for the rear camber arms, and another $300 for the front arms plus installation.

Sounds like exactly what I just did last month with my car haha. Definitely call around and find a local shop vs a big-box type which likely won't charge you by the hour and can give you a price up front to do the job. I paid $600 total but that included the eibach spring installation, mounting and balancing 4 new wheels/tires and also an alignment.

A few weeks later went back and had 20mm H&R spacers and rear camber arms installed (and another alignment) for $250 plus the ~$150 for arms (stillen) and ~$180 for spacers. I did experience vibrations after spacers were installed, but it was due to improper hub ring size and got that replaced right away. It's amazing the difference a few mm can make!

I couldn't be happier with this setup, and below is a picture which hopefully shows the ride height and flushness of wheels (awd coupe). Good luck!

I'm lowered on Swifts and have 20mm Hub Centric spacers from B2AutoDesign...no vibration.

Their spacers are comparable to H&R, which fit & finish are topnotch.
Contact Charles...he will take care of you.
They also carry H&R and Ichiba V2 if you want to go that route.

Necropost up in here.

Finally getting around to doing this, gonna go with just springs and spacers and not worry about the camber arms for now, I'll be keeping an eye on my tire wear to see if I need to flip them every few thousand. I assume the tire shop that installed them would be happy to do tire rotations of that nature. I've seen a lot of people on here able to get in-spec with Eibachs as far as toe is concerned, though the camber is gonna be about -2.0 to -2.5 or so. It's not a big deal though, since it's mainly an outta whack toe that wears down tires fast.

Just emailed like 6 local shops, some place up in Silverton that works with Low Riders and Hot Rods thought they would need 8 hours @$40/hour to install springs and spacers that don't require stud replacement.... lol

It's about a 3 hour job tops, I DIY'd mine w/ camber arms and toe kit and took about 4 hrs., and that included at least one beer run.
