Willl installing Hotchkis sways void the warranty?

Hi. I've had my 2009 G37X for about 48 hours now. Love it. Now it's time for the Hotchkis sways. From what I've read that should be the icing on the cake. Will swapping the stock sways for Hotchkis void the warranty? Thanks

Under the Magnuson–Moss Warranty Act the dealer essentially has to prove that your modification caused the part in question to fail. With the sways if an endlink breaks they may be fine but they can't claim that the engine blew from the new suspension part.

It will not void the warranty and they will probaly never know that they are even aftermarket sway bars. Just don't tell them

On suspension related parts, yes if they know about them. On anything else, no. If you break end links (I did on the rear with mine) you'll have to replace them yourself.

I'm not even close to being slammed. Very moderately dropped. Stiffer sway bars put a huge strain on the OEM links, particularly when encountering bumps or potholes during hard cornering.

They will void part of your suspension warranty. That's all.

Asked the dealer to install them for me since they had the best price. No warranty voided and never any questions asked about them.

I'm not dropped at all and the driver side rear end link popped after two days. The sway was at the middle setting and it happened not too long after a pretty hard run (maybe that had something to do with it?).

The dealer siad that they will install any 'bolt-on' from the Stillen catalog, but will not touch the engine. Also said they would install the Hotchkis sways if I wanted them - just to bring in my parts and they would do the labor. They made it a point to say they would not do any engine mods.

^ FYI - sways are a very easy DIY and there's a bunch of write ups in the Tech section. i did my Eibach sways a while back. front bar took ~20 mins, including removing the splash guard. rear took ~1hr because my aftermarket exhaust had to be loosened off and then re-tightened.

i am by no means a pro, so don't feel like this is out of your league. as long as you have jack stands you can do this. if you don't have stands, buy them for ~$40. you'll save a ton of cash in the long run!

Whoa, I never realized that this could be a potential issue. I'm sure it's not going to be an issue for 99% of the people that installed aftermarket sways but for the remaining 1% or paranoid stat freaks like me, what would be an optimal solution. Obviously aftermarket end links, but are there certain brands/manufacturers that produce them and if so which are the ones that are the most reliable?

PS. Sorry to threadjack OP.

Whiteline. Modme's. SPL. All are adjustable and of more substantial construction than the OEM ones. Keep in mind that everyone will not necessarily break them because of stiffer sways. It depends on how and where you drive.

my two cents.... i'd say it's a lot more than 1% that need to worry Just MHO but I never, ever, ever on any vehicle leave the OEM endlinks on when upgrading the sways.....

as far as brand, I like Whiteline. they seem to make decent stuff
