OEM/Standard Brakes?

So I've had my car for 2 weeks now and I've come to realize something....my brakes do not create any brake dust. Coming from an Audi, I am all too familiar with brake dust, and having only washed the car once (last week), I barely have (if any) brake dust on my rims.

It is a 2009 x Coupe and when I bought the car it had only 15,900 miles on it, so I am assuming that the brakes on the car when I bought it are what it came equipped with when the previous owner originally bought the car. They are not the sport brakes either.

Has any one else experience/noticed this? I just find it very interesting and was wondering what type of brake pad comes standard

You are correct, our OEM pads do not create much dust at all. Only a little up front, hardly any in the rear. Compared to many other makes (like the Audi you came form or BMW) they are amazingly dust free. It's one of the benefits. However Nissan brakes in general have been known to sometimes be squeaky for a long time.

I find nissan rotors are of poor quality, they always seem to warp very quickly but you are right about the dust part.

Cool

Sigh. Not always. My 350Z ran 40,000 miles with the original rotors and aftermarket pads front and read, no warpage at all. A lot depends on how you drive - excessive use of the brakes will heat them up a lot and can initiate warping. I personally saw no difference between the rotor performance in my 350Z or my 335i after 40,000+ miles....but that does not mean the rotor quality is the same.

BTW I do love the fact that there is minimal brake dust with the G. I changed the pads on the Z to eliminate that problem.

It's not the rotors, but the soft pads depositing uneven amounts on the rotor. A very common Nissan phenomenon.

It's funny you say this because my mom has an 2007 Infiniti M35x and I could never figure out why her brakes worked like s**t, and when I went to get them replaced for her, sure enough they were warped beyond belief.

Hopefully I do not experience the same!
