dropping car?

I have a 2009 g37x with the regular 18 inch rims.

I was planning on getting 19 inch rims. Possibly the sport rims. My question was do I have to drop my car to put the 19 inch rims on it? I thought I would but my friend said I dont.

If i dont have to drop my car, do i just take the 18 inch rims off and slide on the 19 inch rims?

I want to drop but I'm planning on getting the infiniti elite protection extended warranty. I have 15k miles and its a 09. So I read online somewhere I can extend up to 7 years and 100k miles. I also read that someone dropped their car and put an exhaust on it and their warranty got voided when they went in for something

They just void the suspension warranty, not the entire warranty plan.

you dont have to drop your car to put on 19's. itll just look funny with the giant wheel gap.

as for warranty, it can really depend on your dealer. i've gone in multiple times dropped on coils and have an exhaust and have had no problems with my warranty.

They aren't going to void your entire warranty, but if they can make a case that the new suspension could have caused this issue, they will not cover it.

Yeah they might say that but they cant legally do that. here is a link in wikipedia with alot of good information on this as well as links to "credible" sites

I am not a lawyer but you are putting too much faith in the Magnuson-Moss warranty act and what it actually covers.

The main purpose of the act (as I understand it) is so a dealership can't force you to buy parts from them only (thus eliminating a large chunk of the aftermarket parts industry). Without it, some dealerships could claim you must buy an Infiniti oil filter or your warranty is void, instead of an aftermarket (ie Bosch) oil filter designed to work on an Infiniti.

In the above example you are NOT covered if you make a Kia 4cyl oil filter work on your Infiniti through an adapter or something similar.

If Infiniti has published anywhere somehthing similar to "19inch or larger wheels should not be used on any non-sport package G37" and parts of your suspension wear out prematurely that is a pretty strong case to deny warranty work IMO.

I agree with you VTCMart, yeah the warranty for the shocks should be voided if you put aftermarket springs. However, you cant tell me that they can void an ENTIRE warranty over changing a couple parts such as springs and a cat-back exhaust

Yes I agree I don't think they would void the entire warranty, just the particular claim if there is a correllation between the issue and the part installed.
