Regardles of the model you will need at least 18 inch wheels for the calipers to clear.

Why the heck would AWD have anything to do with rotors and calipers fitting on a car

The only fitment issue is wheels and tires clearing the new, and much larger rotors and calipers. The akebonos will slap right on an AWD, but the stock wheels will not clear the brakes.

It depends on the wheel design. Not all 18's work. On the G37 coupe for example, the stock 18's do not fit with the akebono sport brakes. Also, some 19's don't clear. The problem most people have is the rim hits the caliper. Its not the diameter of the wheel that causes it, it's the offset and design. I had some JDM 19's on my '08 coupe and when I switched the brakes to the sport akebono's, I had to run spacers to clear.

something to do with the rear brakes being too far out or something.

Akebono's fit perfectly on AWD. You just need to check if the wheels you are running will work. They have templates you can print and cut out to see if the calipers will hit your wheels before you buy a set.

Quick question and yes a I searched. Will the coupe akebonos fit an '08 G35S with the stock 18's? Or do you need spacers?

gshack » Akebono BBK – Notes

The rear will fit over the rear just fine, you'll need spacers up front. The narrower front wheel will need an even larger spacer to fit.
