Painting Your Calipers Question?

ok so i finally came down to a color that i want to paint my calipers....obviously i wont tell you.......called my guy who painted front bumper cause it looks sick and the work was great, however i asked him how much he would charge to paint them and he asked me to do research to find out if they can use the same paint on the brake caliper.....and then he asked if my brake calipers get hot.....I mean i totally could have swore i was high, unfortunately i wasnt....He did a sick job with my front bumper but am i missing something? Shouldn't he know this type of stuff? I mean he's working on classic Porsche's and corvettes in the other part of the building lol

sounds reasonable that he should know that type of basic information. If you get them done, let me know, I may be interested too. Maybe get a better price...

Use ceramic paint, and our calipers have a coating so they wont get hot, But id still use the ceramic paint. Now If I know that then he should know that too.

If you are going to go through the trouble of taking them off the car the do powder coat. I would only use paint if I were doing them still on the car.

OK, so if I am hearing you guys correctly. You're saying to take them off and have them powder coated? That being said, you'll have to take them off to be painted correctly? So no one on here reccomends leaving them on the car and painting them that way?

You can paint them with regular High temp caliper paint (VHT Caliper Paint is a good one) but don't expect the results like a powder coat job. The VHT paint should hold up well for a few years if prepped properly but will eventually start peeling.
Also, if you have the base brakes (not the big silver Akebono calipers) it's best to just paint them a color like black, silver, or gray to make them blend w/ the car rather than a bold color like red that screams "hey everybody, look at my small rotors and ugly floating calipers"
