Do i need new brakes?
Do i need new brakes?
I have 36k miles...The fronts have 6mm left and the rears have 3mm. I do get an intermittent squeal when braking hard and high speeds.
Anyway. I am definitely replacing the rears, however, i'm not sure if I should just do the fronts at the same time....6mm seems like its about time...
I'll be doing rotors and pads...
What do you think?

6 mm is a lot of friction surface left. You don't need to replace them but you could.
I think you're the second guy to mention that your rears are wearing out faster than the front. It seems odd to me. I have 68K. I replaced the front pads a while back when I upgraded to the Racing Brake 2 piece rotors but the rears are still fine.

I had my car in a couple of months ago to have them checked for brake judder. They ended up replacing the pads in the rear but not the front. The rear pads were at 3mm while the front were at 5mm. The service advisor said it was due to the design of the Gs braking.
This exact same thread came up on the G8 board at the exact same time, lol, and the exact same things were said about VDC. The guys who drove hard, and the guys who lived in crappy weather areas were experiencing rear brakes failing sooner than front.
