Help i THINK my rear end-links are shot
i THINK my rear end-links are shot
Hey,
I have an 08 2nd gen sedan with 55k miles on it. I recently installed a set of Eibach front and rear sway bars (in February) and in the past 2 weeks i think my rears are shot. Some things ive noticed:
-When going over speed bumps at an angle (where left goes over then right ride) there is a slight clunk from the rear, when going over speed bumps even this is non-existent.
-Previously, being when i first installed the bars and for about a month give or take after that i could take turns hard and the rear end would have no problem slipping and coming out, VERY predictable with the sways. I have the same tires, theyre more worn now obviously, and i cannot slip like i could before. its not a matter of trying to drift, but i could take turns before with such confidence. Now, it feels like mush.
Maybe its just me but i swear the rear is nowhere near as stiff as it was before, i noticed it from one day to the next, same with the noises. Now, i havent seen any reports of 2nd gen end-links going bad which is why im a bit skeptical. OEM replacement are 15 bucks a piece so its not biggie, although id prefer aftermarket but not when they cost 300+ for something that can be made for 30 bucks a pop.
Thanks,
Robert

lol i think u think that imeant the end links are internal, which is obviously not true. lmao. i mean to tell if theyre bad. ill take a look tommorow mornign at them and see if theres any obvious signs of damage
My driver side end link broke off the sway bar. I went down from exiting my girlfriends apartment complex and as soon as I touched the road, I heard a big "CLUNK" noise and when I got to the median, I look in my rearview mirror a big bolt. I get out my car to see it was the ball joint. I wasn't sure if it came from my car. I went back to her apartment and jacked up the car. Checked the front and rear ball joints to see the driver side one just broke. I went to the dealer today and it costed me $20 bucks for the driver side. Passenger side was $18, so I bought it as well. I tried doing the install myself and it was a tough as the car wasn't lifted in the air and also I didn't have any air tools. It was also hard to reach in with a hand tool. I'm gonna take it to my mechanic tomorrow and hope he doesn't charge me a grip to replace them.
