Front coilover install ?

Is the mounting seal, part #2 in FSM, supposed to be reinstalled when replacing front strut assembly with a replacement coilover assembly?

Thank you in advance.

All, thanks for the replies.

I am referring to the red gasket/software/mounting seal that is factory installed between the front shock absorber mounting bracket and the body.

I just installed a Hipermax III kit. It came with a replacement mounting seal for the rear, but nothing for the front. Therefore I assumed it wasn't necessary. Looking at my factory front struts (where the red seal remains), the question came to mind.

The kit came with shock mounts (F + R), mounting seal (R), but no mounting seal for front.

The rear also has a factory installed mounting seal, but was replaced with parts supplied with the Hipermax III kit.

Thanks again.

Na I never used any of them. I dont see it being necessary. But it never hurt anyone to use extra gaskets

Do you mean the very thin orange gasket that goes between the body and the upper spring seat? If so, yes you must reuse those. Your front suspension may make noise without it.

isn't just a piece of thin paper? Can't imagine it making much of a difference.

It makes a world of differences. It's avoiding metal to metal contact and not rub off your car's paint and causes rust.

Yes, that is what I'm referring to. Looks like I'll be doing some rework this weekend. All good though, only put ~100 mi on the car without them.

Thanks much all!

i have noticed no noise from my coilovers without them. I REALLY bought your going to cause rusting from not installing a gasket. I wouldnt worry about it.

Yea, your probably right. I have to adjust my CO's anyway. It won't hurt to put them on.
