I went to the dealer to have my break check because of a Squeaking Sound.. The Dealer Brake lathe the back discs @ 16k miles.. but did not change the pads.. the sound went of for about a week and then started again.. I return to the dealer a couple of weeks after and the say now that they have to Brake lathe the back disc again and change the Brake pads.. I told that for me is a little bit unusual to have the disc Brake lathe or rectifying the disc at this small millage that the cars have. i also think this will shorten the disc life.

Does any one knows if this is recommendable or if there is any problems with the brake disc on the 2010 g37 unit?? also what is the normal wear millage of the rear disc pad??

Thanks..
I have 11,000 miles on my 2010 and just went in for an oil change. Dealer inspected the brakes and said front had 90% left and rears had 80% left.

Front Bakes 320mm (12.60 In) Rear Brakes 307mm
Front Bolt 5 x 114.3mm

- Note Centric Parts is the parent company of StopTech (performance line)
Also QUALIS AUTOMOTIVE is under the Centric Parts Umbrella
and for the big one... Power Slot Rotors and Stop Tech are/where the same.

Stop Tech 320mm Slotted Rotor $100.92 each front (Amazon)
Front Left Manufacturer Part #: 126.42080SL
Front Right Manufacturer Part #: 126.42080SR

Stop Tech 307mm Slotted Rotor $74.08 each rear (Amazon)
Rear Left Manufacturer Part #: 126.42088SL
Rear Right Manufacturer Part #: 126.42088SR

HAWK Yellow package PC Ceramic pads

Rear Part# HB370Z.559 $69.27 set AMAZON

If you want more Performance (needs more heat not the best for daily driver)
HAWK Blue package HPS Ferro-Carbon pads
– Note the “Blue 9012” are the black package track only pads don’t confuse them.
Front Part# HB387F.547 $76.68 set AMAZON
Rear Part# HB370F.559 $67.40 set AMAZON

Installation Procedure
1. Install brake pads properly. Be sure pads are securely positioned in the caliper.
2. Flush system with fresh brake fluid.
3. Check all hydraulic parts for excess wear and tear.
4. Check disc for proper thickness, parallelism, and lateral runout.
5. Check disc for scoring or grooves over .012”depth. If either applies, resurfacing is required.
6. If discs do not need resurfacing, then contamination from the previous brake pads must be removed. Sand discs with 130-grit sandpaper using moderate pressure. Use soap and water to clean disc surface after sanding and machining. Discs should be free and clear of oil, grease, and brake fluid.
7. Inspect calipers for freedom of movement. Lubricate where necessary.

Bed-in / Burnishing Instructions
1. After installing new brake pads, make 6-to-10 stops from approximately 30-35 MPH applying moderate pressure.
2. Make an additional 2-to-3 hard stops from approximately 40-45 MPH.
3. DO NOT DRAG BRAKES!
4. Allow at least 15 minutes for the brake system to cool down.
5. After step 4 is completed, your new Hawk Performance brake pads are ready for use.

I hope this helps - I'm a firm believer of giving back to the forums and community. Pass your knowledge around!!! M. Wagner

Im just going to put in a little bit of my input.

If your just going to be swapping pads because you absolutely need brakes for your daily driver, I think you can go to autozone and get brake pads. There is absolutely no performance improvement and maybe even worse than some stock pads, but there is a life time warranty and they will swap it out for you at the counter if you wear them out. Since they are lifetime already I just go for their top of the line cmax pads from autozone. I always have a set of autozone pads just to make sure I have something to drive on.

If you are looking for something a little more aggressive, you can get something like the the street Hawk pads (HPS or HP+) or my pick Stoptech Performance street. These pads will give more initial bite and work better when hot than most of the pads on the market. Quick review on each of these pads
HAWK HPS- bite isnt hard at all. But takes heat better than stock. Doesnt dust too much and is a good daily pad.
HAWK HP+- better all around than the HPS, the biggest thing you will notice is the increase in bite. Dusts significantly more, but dust isnt abrasive.
Stoptech performance- These pads are my go to pads for daily driving and track. They do not bite as hard as the HP+ but they take in heat much much better. Price point is insanely good compared to the HP+ as well. Dusts less than HP+ and good all around.

Now if you get pads like DarkfieldM, EBC Yellows those are track pads.
Just a quick review on these- Not one of my favorites because the modulation at the track isnt really there. Bites hard but the pedal feels dead.

But ultimately these pads are not street pads. The issue with daily driving on track pads is first its ery abrasive when cold. You will start demolishing your rotors.
but the biggest issue with driving on track pads is that the brake dust that comes off of these pads is very abrasive, and will burn themselves into your wheels and moisture will make them rust, staining your wheels. You will really have to keep an eye on your wheels and keep them clean, clean them once a week.

Good stuff^^, and good point about the track pads' debris wreaking havoc over time on the wheel finish. Had good experience w/ Stoptech Street pads, my Wilwood BP10s are similar in initial bite and under harder braking when hot.

I too go the Autozone/O'Reilly route for my truck, since I don't use it for spirited driving but just want similar to OEM and save money for my G
