Advance auto part sells Akebono premium brake pads, those are oem, front are $87 and back are $63, google some coupon code and you can prob get it cheaper than $150 shipped for the whole thing. Unless there are other online vendors that sell oem pads cheaper.

since we're talking brake pads for akebonos...can any of you gearheads chime in on if it's possible and or beneficial to buy an extra set of front akebonos and use them on the rear? so in short, (4) 4-piston akebonos front and rear???

No. You'll screw up your brake balance, and have a lot more pedal travel.

okay thanks mike...but...what if I get a big brake kit caliper (I.e. 6 piston) for the front, and then just swap out the oem rears with the original fronts?

Size the fronts accordingly, so that the piston area ratio is the same as OEM.

Keep in mind, your pedal will have more travel, since it has to push a lot more piston area.

Also, it'll probably take some custom bracket work to be able to do that, but if you're considering a 6 piston front, you can afford it

This will not work at all, sorry. Either a front 4-piston BBK or 6-piston BBK will have roughly the same piston area. It's not the number of pistons that matter -- it's the total piston area. Moving the front OE 4-piston caliper to the rear is asking for a lot of trouble, plus you'd lose the parking brake if you could get it all rigged up. Not only would the mechanical F/R bias be seriously out of whack, the system would be even further out of thermal balance.

I just purchased these but I havent put them on yet. I am thinking whether I should turn the rotors on there or get new rotors.

Hi,

The Akebeno do not come up under Infiniti on Advanced Auto Parts website. Can someone please provide specific part number for pads? Are they sold in pairs (i.e. do you need to buy 2 for rear and 2 for front) or do they come 2 in a pack ?

Thanks,

2009 G37S Vert.
