Disk or Drum Brakes?

This may sound like a silly Q, but Is the G equipped with disk or drum brakes? I am told that both are the same but am positive that they are not... Which does the G have and what is the difference between the two?

Ridoor,

I'll actually answer your question. Thats what the forum is all about.

The G Line has 4 Wheel Disc Brakes.

All of the Sedans have a good side disc. The RWD cars with Sport Package have even larger ones and stronger bakes.

A disk brake is just that...a disc that a caliper (think of a heavy duty clamp) squeezes the disc as it turns to stop the car.

A drum brake is like a large bowl. The braking mechanism is on the inside. When you need to stop...the brake shoes expand and rub on the inside of the "bowl" and stop the car.

Disc brakes are superior in like every way.

Did they actually shift this question from the G35 forum onto this forum.

Disc > drum.

I can't think of that many current entry level luxury sedans that still have drum brakes (except when being used for the parking brake).
