Help Install with Shop or Dealer?
Install with Shop or Dealer?
I currently am deciding whether I should have the dealership install my springs and camber kit, or a local shop do it. I have the parts in my garage I just need to decide who I'm going to have install it. The dealer wants to charge me $550 for install for everything including alignment, whatever else needs to be installed (and they stand behind their work which means my warranty for that isn't voided through them) Of course the only bad thing is that they are a bit expensive, well anything through the dealer is expensive.
On the other hand a local shop that I haven't really worked with before or heard anything about but they do seem like a good company. They want to charge $140 for install for camber kit and springs and $50-70 send to tire works or good year for an alignment.
The shop seems like a good shop from what I've noticed, but all look that way until something goes wrong. It seems like they do cars in equal or higher value then ours.
So my question is if you guys were in my shoes, what would you do?
Take a chance with a local shop, drive to cali to have somewhere like amplified do it? or have the dealer install it?
Another of my concern is what problems could really go wrong with having a shop do it IF for some reason they did do something not all that great?
Just not sure if I should have the shop do it or pay extra and have the dealer do it. Which I know they will do a good job or they WILL fix it. (I have a good dealer).
Well thanks for all the opinions in advance and I'm looking forward to hearing from all my G37 buddies!

$140 bro! That's a great price! Don't go to the dealer for this! REPEAT! Don't go to the dealer for this! It's a simple install and the average around here seems to be $200-250.
Or free if you do it yourself. Good Luck!

True DAT!
besides, there's not much that can go wrong with suspension install....worse is u'll hear some clunking noises because the springs aren't sitting correctly, etc etc, or something is loose...if there was a major problem, then it's most likely the coilover/spring's fault which is warrantied through the manufacturer of ur suspension

My grandmother used to say, "That's too much sugar for a dime.". $140 for spring and camber kit install is too cheap to trust IMO. At a minimum I'd think that job would charge 3 to 4 hours labor. $35/hr labor rate sounds fishy to me. Ask them to provide you some references of folks who they've done this kind of work for. Maybe find another shop to get an idea of what they charge.

That is true. I think they will do a good job.
