Anyone use circuitboardmedics.com to fix clock light

Has anyone used circuitboardmedics.com to repair the LED on their clock?

They advertise a repair for $99

It would be cheaper to just get another clock. There are plenty on eBay in the ballpark of ≈$50 or so. It takes 30-45min. to swap it out vs. mailing it to them, waiting for the turn around, mailing it back, etc.

I get that, but how many of those fail after just a bit of time and then you do it all again?

That is with anything. I am on my original clock- 15 years and counting- with no LED issues (the cluster on the other hand...).

That was my suggestion. Perhaps others can chime in on the company you referenced. Good luck!

Right? I've got a few I've pulled from junkyard cars I should repair. I used to do this with RX7 wiper switches ages ago...

Were I doing it, I'd replace the LEDs. Reflow is half the battle, and why not replace them while you're in there?

Well, both. The one in my car right now I replaced the LEDs with some blue ones. But I did reflow a different one.

iCrap, do you use a hot air gun for the reflow, or a traditional iron with a forked tip?

Or are you *seriously* balling and have access to a solder bath?
