Epic chrome delete hack blackout with no paint

Every single person who has ever painted their headlights has been doing it wrong. I just discovered this hack that works 100% and is crazy easy.

Step 1: Spray “Easy Off - Heavy Duty” oven cleaner on your chrome piece (this works for the chrome shroud, chrome bowl, even the entire chrome housing (including the later models that have black chrome).

Step 2: Make a sandwich.

Step 3: Hose down your parts.

What you are left with is perfect black parts about the same color as the front grille. They are black because that’s base color of the plastic. Luckily they didn’t use purple.

You may need to repeat step 1 one more time for big pieces like the housing. First pass will get it 90%.

Even if you want to paint, this is a much better surface to paint or prime plus paint on. Painting over that chrome is terrible. But I see a ton of people painting there stuff black and it’s all unnecessary!

WARNING: THIS SHlT IS STRAIGHT CHEMICAL WARFARE LEVEL DANGEROUS. RESPIRATOR MASK, GLOVES, VENTILATION, MAXIMUM PROTECTION REQUIRED. DON’T LEAVE THIS UNDER YOUR SINK FOR YOUR FAMILY TO FIND.

I didn’t realize this and sprayed it like it was foaming bubbles bathroom cleaner. I torched my hands and my lungs and throat are on fire. I just took years off my life. Don’t be an idiot like me 😵.

First pass 90%. Still looks a little glittery. I’ll do second pass tomorrow and show pic

Here is two passes on the other side shroud. Perfect black.

My bad guys, I forgot to snap a pic before I sprayed primer. Needless to say it works perfectly.

I’m shocked this hasn’t already been given a sticky and I haven't yet received some lifetime achievement award for this hot technology. I’ll assume my
trophy is in the mail.

Though I usually prep carefully prior to this works wonderfully if your plan is to paint it all. Great find, Easy off is the true GOAT.

Hmm, the real question here is if lung cancer is worth it lol. Awesome find, would have been nice a year ago when I was doing mine.

Should be fine if you properly use this stuff and protect yourself and don’t treat it like it’s foaming bubbles like I did. I was shocked how perfectly it worked. Usually stuff like this never works.
