hey guys just got my 10 6mt sedan a couple months ago and im starting to restore it to her former glory.

looking for advice on the stock ashtray door as mine will not stay closed. is there a quick fix for this or do i need to replace the whole door assembly?

any help is appreciated!

 

The 6mt has a completely different ashtray assembly than the automatic models. My best bet is that one of the spindles in the center console's ash tray broke off.

 

I’ve completely taken mine apart so I sort of know how they work. Did it work and then stop working or was it broken when you got it? Can you describe any better your issue?

Your best bet is going to pull it out and start tinkering with it. Likely won’t be able to fix it without removing. Worst case just find one on eBay. I think I even have a second one if you can’t find one for a good price.

yea it was not staying closed when i got the car. it seems like what ever holds the ashtray door closed/shut is not working anymore.

I have noticed that the ashtray door has a plate on the underside and it presses in and out ok, but its almost as if it is supposed to magnetically hook onto something which it does not anymore.
