DRL wont turn off
DRL wont turn off
Hello everyone,
This would be my very first post. I am planning to clean my G's throttle bodies soon and I have read somewhere online that it would be a good idea to perform the 'idle air volume relearn' procedure. The only problem is the DRL is ALWAYS ON, I believe it is one of the precondition requirements to minimize electrical loads. I have an 08 g37s. Im the 2nd owner and it was originally imported to Canada from the US of A.
Is it ok to just pull out the DRL fuse (if there is one in place; I still haven't check) for the sake of the relearn procedure?
I'm open to suggestions.
Edit 1: AT 5 speed

For one, I would not perform the Idle Air Relearn Procedure unless you absolutely have to. The process is tricky and, for some cars, does not fully work even with the right equipment. If after you clean the throttle bodies you have idle issues (you will know it) then do the relearn.
As mentioned, the DRL's have nothing to do with the throttle bodies. The electric "load" they would draw while doing the procedure is practically nonexistent.
If I recall, when you set the parking brake, don't the DRL's turn off?

As a note, you CAN turn them off by restarting the car, but apply the parking brake. They are designed to always be on unless the motor is off or the parking brake is applied . (Canadian here, ALL cars are supposed to be like that here)
Then you have a separate issue with the DRL system. However, this still has nothing to do with cleaning the throttle bodies and probably will not affect the Idle Air Relearn (should you need to run the procedure).
