I need to replace my steering wheel with a new one but noticed the bolts to remove the airbag one is a torx and the other looks like an anti theft bolt. Where can I find the tool to remove the anti theft bolt?
both should be torx security bits(also called torx anti-tamper or anti theft)..you can get them anywhere they sell torx bits...harbor freight..amazon.. they are jsut torx bits hollowed out with a pin in the middle
T30 Torx bit, and a 24mm socket for the nut inside the wheel. Make sure the battery is disconnected so the airbag light doesn’t come on, as your disconnecting an air bag here
If you have the tamper resistant bolt (not the torx-type) then you will have to either contact the dealer to see if you can get a replacement key or maybe you can find a creative way to remove the bolt. Keep in mind that those SRS bolts have thread lock on them so they are good and tight in there.
You will likely have to take the car to the dealer to have them identify which key/kit you have. Examples:
Hope this helps...
