Ok guys, I feel like this is probably something really simple but I can't figure it out. My shift boot came unattached to the ring and I can't get it to hold anymore. Any ideas on how to reattach it? Hopefully you'll understand what I'm saying with the picture.

 

This will be hard to explain, but... the top of the boot- where it is folded down- attached to the bottom of the collar (the part that locks to the shiftknob) with, of all things, a zip tie. Mine snapped a few years ago. You will have to invert the boot over the collar and attach a new zip tie.

 

Oh wow, thanks for the explanation! I think I get what you're saying. I guess this gives me an excuse to do the contrast boot stitching mod too while I'm at it.

 

If that mod is on your list now is as good a time as any. Get it done in one fell swoop!

 

In order to invert the boot, do you need to remove the plastic cover/trim piece around the shifter? (the plastic piece with the PRND)
