Hood insulator pad replacement
Insulator Pad - Infiniti (65840-JL00A) Anyone recommend a less expensive alternative please? My 2012 insulator Pad located under the hood is dry rotting and needs to be replaced. I was considering dynmat for hoods. Any ideas. The OEM one is between $300 US and $450 US And I'm in Canada so this is expensive. One alternative is Dynamat. They now have a hood insulator for about $130 for a sheet which should cover the entire hood.

I don’t know of a less expensive source to help you out but I wouldn’t place dynomat under the hood for the following reason.
I may be mistaken, but the material attached to the inside of the hood is actually a fire blanket. In the event of an engine fire, the plastic fasteners melt away dropping the blanket onto the top of the engine so to help limit the spread of the fire. This may also explain the high cost in that it is considered a safety device.
Again, I’m not 100% sure with the Infiniti G37 but this was true with a lot of GM model vehicles like the Corvette and Camaro’s.
