Driver side floor wet

Hi guys,

I have an 09 g37x coupe and I have been noticing that the front driver side floor keep getting wet. My mechanic tried to blow out my sunroof just to see if there is a clog there but it is still doing it. It isn't necessarily a puddle but it is definitely wet enough that when you touch it your hands will be wet and if you put a towel to it it will absorb a decent amount of water. Was wondering if anyone else had this issue. Id prefer to not bring it to the dealer since they going to charge me hundreds of dollars to just diagnose the problem. any help is appreciated!

Totally different car, but I had an IS300 that developed a leak through the gasket/seal at the passenger side mirror. Water would get inside the door, which would leak out the speaker opening and deposit water on my floor, making the carpet very soggy.

have a friend get a garden hose and pour water down the windshield first while you check for leaks. Sometimes it's a gasket somewhere along the firewall or something.

Then, pour on the roof while you're inside.

Thanks guys. I don't see any water coming down the door or from the roof. It seems to just show up randomly in spots on the floor. I do have a spot in my fender lining/ wheel lining that has a hole in it. Do you think it is possible that water could be leaking in from there when I am driving? I am not sure if that spot is at all connected to the floor so I never really put two and two together there. Appreciate the help!

Bumping this thread for advice - seems these posts on Drivers side water are all slightly different.

Over the last month, I did have the car in the shop for driver side water, they couldn't find any issues except a boatload of leaves near the firewall.

Heavy rain over the last couple days and somewhat of a monsoon yesterday. Opened it up yesterday and the floor mat had a puddle on it, of course pulling the carpet back revealed the typical water collections under the foam inserts. After drying I parked the car in the exact same spot and proceeded to dump about 2 gallons of water down the Sunroof drain. No luck getting anything to drip inside.

I guess opinion number 1 is, would I have a floor mat puddle(mats are rubber) if the sunroof firewall drain were the culprit?

Intend to soak it down while I'm inside one I have some help. thx!

Bumping also, I have not had a chance to diagnose. I did however found the hood latch cable grommet out of place and non existent fender liners could have contributed to this.
Once the transmission is back in I will keep testing to find out if this fixed mines.

Update - took more than I had to apart and was able to recreate the leak pretty easily, focused on soaking the sunroof area (closed) first.....nothing!. I moved on to the windshield area letting the water run down the drivers side for a bit, the drip started. Once I cleaned that mess, went on to the the grommet in the firewall and used a funnel to apply water directly on top of it...bingo! Of course it's after the fact but here's the post dealing directly with the grommet, Thisone didn't seem to come up in my "drivers side floor wet" search .

Hope this helps someone!
