Has anyone painted the inside of their tailights like they do with headlights?

Wondering if anyone has pulled the red lens off and painted the chrome innards black. I'm tempted to grab one from the pick-n-pull and try it, but if someone has pics no need to spend $50 for an experiment.

You have to cut the lens off and then glue or plastic weld them back on.

As for your question, I unfortunately do not know and have not seen any pictures of it if they have. I would check with local laws before modifying rear brake lights (disclaimer).

Nope, they are plastic welded together.

Can confirm. Melted a spare in an attempt to do exactly what you described.

Yep I would also like to do this. I've seen pics of aftermarket lights with the blacked out innerds but they have a clear lense. I bet if they put a RED lense on there they would sell a bunch.

Hit up these guys, https://oneightynyc.com/.

They did a terrific job on my tail lights, however I don't think they painted the shroud inside maybe just the lens. I've had them for awhile so I can't recall. I do know that I got them for a great deal because they give you a core charge back when you ship them your old lights. They also do custom headlights as well (very pricey though). I love the tail lights though, really makes the car stand out among other G's. There a a lot in my area and not one has had these, so I like them even more lol.

Didn't have a picture handy of my G but this is essentially what mine looks like (credit to whoever's car that is).

That's very nice but I'm 99% sure it is a coating applied to the outside of the lamps.

I'll see when the next LKQ 40% off sale is - I could spend the $25 on an experiment.

Looks just like the GTR style bluebat overlay I got for my coupe only I went with the 25% tint not opaque. He has a cyber monday discount today too.

FWIW I've had my ONEighty tail lights on for almost 2 years now (in January) without any signs of wear.
