So I had custom headlights done and one of the things I had to hook up was the led strip
To get power to the led strips, I stripped some wire on the daytime running lights and wrapped the wires from the led to the ones from the light. It worked when I tested it for about 2 seconds but now I can get them to work. Both sides. What could be the problem?

Use your multimeter and follow the troubleshooting steps in the FSM
OK, take a look at fuse 59 in the IPDM - that one supposedly sends power to the DLR relay, which is located somewhere near your intake tube.
I'm not sure you will be able to simply add lighting without fuses complaining because each circuit is only set up to see certain loads and the more bulbs or LEDs you add the more it looks like a short, electrically. You may want to run another power source to the strips. Others here should have experience with this so maybe somebody point you in the right direction.

I've checked all those fuses. They were all fine. How would I check if it's a short?
The quickest way to know if you have a short is - the fuse blows. That's what the fuses are for, to keep your wiring from overheating and lighting your car on fire.
Can you more clearly describe which light bulb leads you tapped into? Do you have LED daytime running lights in the lower corners of your front bumper? Or does your DLR system work like this:
Engine running, light switch off, parking brake off = parking lamps, low beams, license plate lamp and side markers to be on?
You said the LED strip did work for a few seconds before going dark. Are the bulbs that you tapped into also now all dark?
