Well, someone scratched my car. Is it even worth repairing?
A Couple months ago I discovered two scratches on top of my G's trunk when I was washing it. The scratches were fairly deep and came to the conclusion that some low life had some thing to do with it. Earlier today I noticed scratches on my passenger side and it seems like someone side swiped it with their car or hit it with a shopping cart. Either way I pray for karma for the perpetrator. I always park far away from other cars. My car is always garaged kept at home, so I know for a fact this happened in a public parking lot. No matter how careful I am there is always that one person who some how finds a away to damage my car for no reason. I was thinking of taking it to the shop to have an estimate, but do you guys think it is worth fixing? I feel like people now a days are just careless and disrespectful. Something is telling me it can happen again. Any of you guys have stories or experienced this?
Not bad. Sandpaper and a high speed polish can go a long way on those scratches however if your nail can catch them good, no matter how good you sand and polish it's too deep and will still be there.....but less visually disturbing. Try that method and then some some pin point touch-up paint if needed and call it a day.

OP if you've never (wet) sanded your paint before I'd leave it to a pro.You could def mess some things up if you go too deep.
I'd try some compound first before going sandpaper option.

That looks like a scuff that will easily polish right out.
Get you a orange pad and some Meguiars m105 or m205 or any consumer grade compound like Meguiars compound and it should come out easily.
No need for wet sanding

Thanks everyone for your replies. I am so relieved that it is just a scuff. What products would you guys recommend using? I looked at some videos and I really do not want to use sand paper. I am still paranoid and hold a grudge against other people. It sad knowing that this type of vandalism very common. I have read threads from all kinds of car forums lamenting their cars getting keyed.

It happens.
My previous car was a black 08 Acura TL. I used to be very **** about that car. When going out I would be "that guy" that parked far away from everyone else just to make sure no one would door ding my ****.
I also did detailing as a hobby.
Now I have my 2011 G37S and I did a 180*. I don't make an effort to park far away from everyone else. If I see a slight scuff or anything on the paint it doesn't bother me like it would have 5 years ago.

As far as products, I recommend you trying this. It should be easy to find.
Grab yourself a new microfiber cloth and put a dime size amount of that compound onto the cloth and slowly work it into the paint scuff using a circular motion with moderate pressure.
STOP!!!!!!
You don't need freaking sandpaper! OMG. These suggestions are crazy. That is simple paint transfer. Plain and simple. A very small amount of acetone on a rag and that will wipe right off. Re-wax immediately. Done this many times.

On the oft-chance you have an '09 G with scratchshield (SS) paint, I'd try this innovative and potential solution before anything else. The SS paint uses an elastic clear coat that can be activated by heat, so try boiling some clean water and carefully pour it onto the damaged area. If it helps repair the damage, great! If it doesn't, no harm done...

Hey guys so I used Turtle Wax rubbing compound with a micro fiber towel and it did remove the majority of the scratches. I could still see small dents and slight scratches but I can never keep my car in perfect condition and I am learning to come in terms with that. Here are pics I wanted to share.
