Cracked dash possible class action suit
Filed with Morgan & Morgan, never heard from them, found a replacement on Ebay from a 2013 which was in perfect condition, replaced it myself in about 4 hours (including lunch!). I have owned many sports cars 1976 Triumph TR7, 1979 Mazda RX7 (Limited Edition), 1986 Mazda RX7 , 1993 Lexus SC400 and now the G37 purchased in 2010. Never ever had to worry about "interior items" such as the infamous "peeling steering wheel bezel" and now the "melting and cracking dash"
Love the car, many Nissan products in my family, but Infiniti really should be ashamed of the lack of quality of materials in their so called "luxury and performance line".
It is not hard to do, cost me $450 including shipping.
Good luck guys.............

Interesting to hear, was the install Difficult? I have an 08 w 79k miles on it and sadly the dash is starting to come apart... i live in Boston so it gets brutally hot in the summer and freezing in the winter... which def does not help.
My concern is, will my 2014 Q60 do the same? (I assume it will because Nissan NEVER fixes it's wrongs) By the time my dash gets sticky, the dashes available will all be old, Nissan won't make new dashes in 2025. You guys with the early cars got lucky, Nissan was making new dashes up until 2015, so you guys get "fresh stock". When the dash in my '14 goes bad all dashes will be old, even ones in storage.
The dash in my wife's Impreza is sticky too, all of the dust and lint sticks to it. Hasn't cracked yet.
Not difficult to do, just take lots of pictures and keep parts in order. I found a youtube video which was helpful. For anyone in Florida I will install for them at my home (Orlando area) for a reasonable fee.
There's some dashboards that you can find on ebay from wrecked coupes/sedans with really low mileage. I was searching for the best quality dashboard for 6 months before starting my interior change. Mine came off of a wrecked IPL coupe and cost a fraction of the cost. The Gs made before 2010 seemed to have the worst quality dashboards. The best way to take care of the dash is to get a good quality sunshade, apply 303 protectant, and if possible park in the garage/shade. My stone dashboard that I am still selling is around 11 years old with no melting and no cracks at all simply by doing those 3 things I mentioned.

My '08 dash is just sticky. No cracks as of yet. Whether I replace it or not I am not sure at this point in time. Of all the vehicles I've ever owned the G is the only one- so far- to have this type of issue and I've never had a garage.
Just my 10¢
However, this does not detract from the fact that Nissan, via Calsonic Kansei (who manufactures these dashboards (and other parts)) used inferior materials (whether due to cost or this "save the environment" crap) in producing substandard parts. Every issue I ever had with my car- from the peeling trim pieces, warping center console panels, even flickering LED's- all have been manufactured by Calsonic Kansei.

What do you plan on doing with the sticky issue? Will you be using some sort of chemical or might just wrap/flock the whole dash?
It is really pathetic that the class action suit for the Altima owners actually yielded results while not a damn thing has been done for the G.
At some point I will likely just replace the frigging thing. I just do not drive the car enough for it to really bother me nor do I have the time or patience to try repairing it.

Not making excuses for Nissan here, trust me, I had to spend thousands to fix the defective manifolds on my Titan....but all car companies are scheisty like this.
The biggest thing that irks me is that they NEVER admit WHY the parts fail, they ignore us, the victims, and just keep trudging along, continuing to make bad parts.
I am certain the issue with our dashes is that a certain plastic additive wasn't used that usually provides material stability. I have seen this in other industries where a plastic/vinyl turns to goo after a few years. It is left out either due to environmental reasons, cost, or outsourcing to a vendor who leaves it out to improve margins, as these additives can be expensive.
It would be nice if Nissan told us why our dashes fail, how they have fixed it, so we could buy a newer car from them with some confidence. Just because a newer Infiniti "seems more solid than the old ones" doesn't mean this problem was ever fixed.
For 2016 Nissan revised the VK56 in the Titan and Armada, and famously those engines lose cylinder #7. Nissan is forced to replace engines, but they are being sheisty about it. They are only doing short blocks, which is angering most customers, and they have NEVER said why #7 fails. I am a fan of the new Armada, I would like to buy one. But, how can I know Nissan resolved the issue if they aren't forthcoming about it? The VK56 was one of their best engines up until 2016, WTF did they do to it?
Could be worse, it's just a dash, and Infinitis are much cheaper (especially used) than a similar Lexus. Even Toyota tried to wiggle out of it's responsibility on the V6 sludge issues and melting Toyota interiors. But, Toyota did fix the V6's, most melting interiors AND they are replacing their truck frames on older trucks. I'd be happy if Nissan would just tell us WHAT happened and WHY it won't happen again.

I have an 11sport sedan and dash started to crack in corners and by center/nav console....i contemplated doing a wrap and saw some good possibilities(i.e inexpensive) that still looked good, but had concerns with airbag etc so on hold for that option still... so then decided to order a used dash from ebay. I found a few and ordered one from a 2010..came to me with a hairline crack near windshield area...seller was good and took it back and shipping too etc...so, then saw this video -
and contacted the facility, but the dashboards for the G's are not being manufactured, however, per email, they did state that if sufficient interests etc from others, it would be a possibility...dont know what sufficient means in terms of numbers etc but if you all are interested, hit em up...as this does not require removal of dashboard and from the vid, it looks decent. but i dont see a lot of posts for people getting their dash replaced with warranty or maybe it was just a small segment of buyers that got a bad batch etc....either way, if anyone had other solutions, please post.
That looks hokey as ****. <---WTF with the censorship? I would think car owners would be old enough to handle a little swearing!
Back in the 90's, before passenger side airbags (or more specifically molded-in passenger airbags) a big trend was to wrap a dash in tweed. I actually think it looked good, and even the Z32 300ZX came with a partially tweeded dash.
If my 2014 develops this issue, I'd try tweed first as I have a soft spot for that style (I'm stuck in the past) you could also try suede or pleather, but I think tweed wouldn't telegraph the cracks. For the airbag, make a razor jig to limit razor penetration and score up the backside of the tweed over the passenger airbag area (look online at wrecked V36's).
I feel like the V36 dash would take well to tweed or other materials, it's such a melted-bar-of-soap shape, no crazy angles.
I really wish Nissan would just own up to this, if at least offer new dashes for a discount to affected owners. I wonder if 370Z has this issue? 370Z dash swap is a possibility too....

Tweed huh...as in Shannon Tweed? lol...thats the only one that comes to mind..but will check that out...However, i didnt think about the 370 option and not even sure i read on that at all, so thanks on that new and never ending quest, but yes, even if they offered a discount it would at least show some good will, but then presumably, culpability as well, so who knows how Corp bean heads think this through...but thanks for info
