Material around shifter makes too much noise.

Material around shifter makes too much noise.

Image posted is just a Google picture. Anyways, the aluminum (or whatever the material is) around the shifter tends to make a lot of noise throughout just normal driving, especially around turns. Touching it with a little force makes the same creaking noise. It can be annoying whenever I have the radio off. Can't tell if it's worse during the heat then it is the cold. Anyway to fix this noise issue?
