Headlights on with wipers?

Is there a modification that can be done to a 2012 G37S to make the headlights come on when the wiper switch is at any position but off? California laws suck!

I'm confused. Are you saying you can only use either your headlights or your wipers?

I think he wants to make it so that whenever the wipers are on, the headlights automatically turn on. In most states, it's the law to use headlights when visibility is reduced (ie. when it's raining).

I'm sure there's a way to wire that up, but it will most likely take a lot of time/effort and someone who knows their way around the electrical system. It will be a lot more difficult than remembering to turn on the headlights yourself when it's raining lol.

This is what I assumed but the way OP phrased it was... interesting. IDK. call me old fashioned but I use my brain for things like this instead of looking for mechanical changes.

I don't get if that's what OP was asking why he'd want to go through all the trouble of rewiring everything when he could just turn on his headlights? That's the part I'm confused about.

Idk why people don't just turn their headlights on any time they start the car.

When you need to use the wipers, just turn on your headlights.
It is the law in many states and prevents others from not seeing you in bad weather.
Why do you need a modification?

The law is on the books to prevent A$$holes from not using common sense when driving in bad weather to prevent accidents

MB has this feature (as I am sure other manufacturers do). Headlights on "auto" wipers on "auto" it rains and lights go on. But I agree, it is just as easy to just turn your lights on. That said, I have noticed that many drivers who set their lights to "auto" THINK the lights go on if it is overcast or raining, this is not always the case.

Unless you set your fogs to always on like I have and anytime the headlights turn on the fog lights do as well.

Yeah I was pretty disappointed the G doesn't do this. My 2001 Chrysler had this feature...

What you could do is run the wiper power wire into the low beam power wire. Then you would install a diode in series so that the current would only flow from wiper power line to the low beam power line. Otherwise, every time your headlights turned on your wipers would turn on. It could be done, would just have to look into the FSM for wiring schematics.

Wow, what kind of shop are we running in here? Telling him to stop being lazy or to use his brain is hilariously ignorant. Just like the AUTO climate that we ALL use on a daily basis. I could tell anyone that uses it to use their brain and manually change the fan speed or temp themselves, but were lazy creatures and found ways to improve things and now its automatic... Don't belittle people because you don't have the know-how to do it or simply disagree with them.

Alternatively, you could fabricate a DRL mod? Might be easier and more effective.
