Dealership put swirls in paint (black)

Just got the car back from the dealer and forget to tell them not to wash it. I just got it detailed few weeks ago as I haven't had anytime to do it myself and they did a nice job for. I look at my car in the sun today and it looks like they just washed my car with a sponge at Infiniti. The swirls are ridiculous. Is there anything I can really do if I called them? I don't really have evidence so I don't know what they would do. I'm just a little pissed that I have to find the time to do it myself when I just paid for one. Thanks.

Lesson learned. Doubt dealership will do anything but send same kid to "detail" your car

You are most likely screwed on this one because that's part of the service. One would think that adamantly insisting that no one wash the car would be a top priority when dropping the car off for service (especially after getting a detail). Sucks man and hopefully something comes out of the followup with Infiniti (but I doubt it).

Call them back and ask.

Wash brushes, even the softest ones, will scratch. The complimentary wash is part of 99% of dealers who service cars and from the sounds of it you already knew that but just forgot to say no wash.

For what its worth, the black that Infiniti uses is absolute ****. FAR to soft and VERY easily scratched. This is the only reason why I did not get a black one. If only they could do black like the Germans!

Yeah I am an idiot lol. Ahhh I can't believe I forgot to tell them, oh well guess Ill just have to spend a day this week getting all the swirls out. Yeah I might not even call them considering they would do a terrible job detailing it.

I remember way back in the day when I owned my 03 G35 coupe that i babied and took extra good care esp my paint as it was obsidian black. Due to my lack of knowledge at the time I took it to the dealership to get my rotors changed and also paid for a full detail, i figured why noy im here anyways. When I picked up my car it was dark outside so I couldn't really notive anything wrong but the very next morning I was shocked at the amount of the swirls in my paint. It was absolutely ridiculous and they did the worst buff job I have ever seen in my entire life, I honestly wish I had pictures of it to show you guys. Long story short they did nothing except offer me another free detail which I threw back in their face from how angry I was. You would think a dealership would be more knowledgeable and careful when it comes to detailing the outside of a car. lesson learned I do all my details myself now swirl free is the way to be! Best of luck man I doubt they'll do anything though

Live and let learn. Happened to me twice in my lifetime (old g fell victim).

I vowed to never let that happen again so I made a no wash sign for anytime I had to go in. I now do it for every car I own and even make it unique to stamp the point home.

I feel your pain. I had the same thing happen to my black M35x. I never use the dealership, but because I had an electrical issue I had the car serviced at Infiniti. I completely forgot to tell them not to wash the car and when I picked it looked up I didn't even think it was my car. It looked like they used sand paper to wash it. Lesson learned...

Lmao @ the sign. We've all made that mistake at some point. A free wash sounds fantastic on paper.. then u need a paint correction. Since modding my car however, they default to not washing it. Maybe i'm just lucky or maybe it's a visual cue... 'modded (blk) car = customer must know wash is garbage' ... do not wash!

Lol, kidding. Saw this on a detailing forum and reminded me of here. Don't remember exactly, but I think he paid a few hundred for this custom zebra stripe work of art. Ended up having to pay a couple hundred more for a real detailer to fix it.

I too, tell them not to ever wash the car. Because dealing with the aftermath isn't worth it, I can do it myself safely in 20 mins.

1st don;t bring car to dealer unless you have in choice. No wash sign is a great idea. For your issue I don;t think the dealer will do anything but calling and asking can't hurt either just be professional and polite and make a reasonable request (free oil change and tire rotation next time in or something like that). Bring it back to your detailer for correction or do it yourself if you have the tools, products and experience. I'm glad to help you if you need some detailing direction.
