Interior Light Suggestions
I'm looking to swap out my current interior lights with Diode Dynamics LEDs and wanted to know what you guys' thoughts are on my "would-be" setup:
- I'm debating between pure white (5000k) and cool white (6000K). Which looks better? (I'm leaning towards cool white)
- are the interior lights above the center console considered the map lights? I would've thought they were called dome lights but there's a separate option for dome so I just wanted to make sure I picked up the right ones.
- for the map lights, I plan to do stage 2. However, for the vanity lights, would you guys recommend stage 1 or 2? I'm leaning towards 1 because I think 2 may be too bright and would be impractical if someone needed to use the mirror? Thoughts?
- originally I planned to keep the door lights the same as the rest of the interior. However, I'm leaning towards doing blue with the door lights for a different look. You guys think it'll look okay or will it be weird to have a different color on the doors?
- finally, should I stick to stage 2 or should I go all the way to 3 for the door for better lighting? My main issue with stage 3 is that I don't want the board pushed up against the housing like I've read on some members experiences.

5000k .... very nice and white. I've done 5 cars in V-LED 5000k lights and have never wished I went with 6000k. Hint of blue makes the lights look cheap ..... IMHO

I think either temp would look better than OEM. My map lights are 6000K HP3 and they are super bright. You're right about the vanity lights; mine are SMF1. And if you want more light on the door then the HP5 should be just fine.
Also since you're changing the bulbs, do yourself a favor and get the GTR map lenses.

We offer 4000K / 5000K / 6000K 194 bulb sized replacements
Our 6000K is a true 6000K FWIW. We measure all of our products in-house, so none of our LED bulb model options will have that cheap-looking tint of color.
Most vendors simply state that their products are 6000K, since it's the common bulb color, despite the fact that they are around 12,000K+ in actual color.
We use tightly binned LED components in our LED bulbs to ensure color uniformity.

I don't have the part number, but I got mine off eBay for like $20. Just search for GTR map lenses and it should pop up. The shape is the same as the G37 map lens. Great mod and like hibeet said they really are a must if you're going to go LED with the bulbs.

In my 08 TL I had beige interior which is a very light color. I went with 5000K color temperature in that car and had 5000K bulbs in it for almost 4 years.
Once I got my G37 with black interior I swapped over my interior LEDs from the TL to my G37. I ran 5000K in my G37 for several months and wanted something different. The 5000K and black interior just looked odd.
I purchased 6000K and prefer the look of 6K with black interior. 5K looks good with lighter interior.

Would welcome your insights on size. My car has light grey interior and am not interested in glamour.
Thx
