The D2S Morimoto XB's work on my 2012...I picked up the 5500K and the light output was good and it gave the car a nice look. I also had a set in my 06 M35 - no issues there as well. I just recently took out the xb's after having them in for only 4 months. I upgraded to the Osram CBI's just over a week now...No issues with the xb's, but I found that the CBI's light output was a lot stronger and a wider beam than the xb's. (my brother in law has a set of CBI's in his car and while driving in heavy rain I was amazed at the difference so I switched). I'll just keep the xb's in my garage as a backup set or for my summer bulbs LOL... I think I may have posted some pix of the Xb's when I installed them early this summer....
I picked up my CBI's at TheRetroFitSource, with a promo code....

More and more it's looking like the CBIs are the way to go regardless of price. I've heard and read about many that 'look' better than OEM but don't perform in the rain as well due to the K rating and/or lumens.

And the promo code softens the blow a bit. (how do you get a promo code?)

Sean, I just got back home and saw your post....agreed, since moving to the east coast, the weather is night/day different from CA. I tried to find the thread that a fellow M35 member posted on NICO FUGA regarding his write up on the CBI's - he also made a video that he posted on Youtube showing his driving experience with the Osrams. I used the promo code that he used a few years back and it still worked when I ordered mine a few weeks ago It helped offset the cost of expedited shipping for me.
I know that the price has gone down since a few years ago, so it's a good time to buy.

promo code (from Facebook):

tsbfblike

**UPDATE** found the video:

hope this helps,

Regards,
Anthony

I got a new set of 5k and the left one that was blinking and shutting off is still giving me problems even with the brand new set of bulbs. I brought the car to Infiniti and they said everything was fine and the baluster was not the problem. I don't know what could be causing this issue

Return them to get your money back and order 5500K XB35 bulbs from theretrofitsource

They are guaranteed to work.

Infiniti ballasts are notorious for being picky with some aftermarket bulbs. Its always a gamble. Sometimes itll work just fine, and other times itll give you issues like you experienced.

Only XB35 bulbs and Osram CBI from TheRetrofitsource is 100% guaranteed to work trouble free.

I'm running Osram CBI.

I'm just curious, where did you buy your 5k hid bulbs from? I suspect it is a off-brand cheap bulb from ebay, amazon, or some generic hid website like xenonhid, ddmtuning or tophids?

i believe Ininiti7 mentioned he got the bulbs from one of myG37's vendors. I would check with them about returning them.

IIRC, it was mentioned that the HIDs were an issue on certain Gs.

Infiniti7, I noticed you also replied in this other headlight bulb thread and state you bought it from diode dynamics.

They replied to the thread and said they are aware of the issues regarding the headlight bulbs for certain G37 model years

You are the 2nd person that i have read to have issues with their bulbs.

Yes. I was running 8k bulbs from diode dynamics since 2012 and never had an issue with those. I wanted a brighter bulb so I bought 5k from them about 2 weeks ago and both set of 5k bulbs they have sent me have given me issues with my left headlight and the right headlight has worked fine on both sets. Infiniti told me last weekend my baluster is fine. I don't know whats going on here if the same bulb in 8k worked for 3 years with no issues

Also today I experienced this for the first time but I don't think it is related to the headlight issue. I started my car up after running into the store and it started up and the rpm's kept dropping then the car randomly shut off. I started it back up again and everything was good. Its never happened owning the car for 6 years but i don't know if it was related to the garage installing my bulbs had the battery running for a little while? I don't know what this is all about. Any thoughts?

Seems like they changed their bulbs, I ran their bulbs in my 2011 coupe for 3 years, Now I can't get a set to work on my 09 :/.. Drivers light comes on fine passenger one needs playing with the switch to come on, and will not auto come on.

Went back stock for now.
