Great thread on DRL installs. Please forgive my lack of electrical competence in advance. Here's my situation:

Installed the Osram PX-4 kit in my 2010 xS, flush mounted in the lower grille. Love the look and the lights! Came with a quality controller and all wiring. Wired them the fog light toggle switch so that the DRLs are on and fog lights are off when the switch is off and the reverse when the switch is on with fog lights on and DRLs off. Connected to both the positive and negative terminals on the battery.

Here's where it gets fun... everything seems to work fine before driving. After driving, the DRLs will commonly (not always) stay on for 45-60+ min after I turn the car off before shutting off on their own. Even if I have the fogs on when I turn the car off, the DRLs will switch on. I can only get the DRLs to turn off by turning on the accessories (not starting the engine) and flicking the fog light switch back and forth for a while. Sometimes it take 2 or 3 cycles of turning the accessories on and off, plus flicking the switch. Over a month or three, the battery slowly struggles more and more to start the car until I end up with a dead battery and then it's usually fine for another month or three after I jump it. That held true until this last time when I ended up with three dead batteries in one day and disconnected the DRLs. I did try a chassis ground as well with no luck.

Sure sounds like it is interfering with the IPDM?

jay10 -- I'm not familiar w/ the PX-4 kit, but I did access the installation info PDF. In the instructions is says "The control box is connected to the vehicle battery and to the plus terminal on the ignition (terminal 15) of the vehicle. The daylight driving lights come on immediately as soon as the ignition is turned on. As soon as the vehicle is switched off, the daylight driving lights go out. The location of terminal 15 / ignition plus terminal varies according to the vehicle." But you said you connected the controller to the fog light toggle switch. So if that's not the same thing that could be your problem. In any event, the system in no way should drain your battery. That means the way it's connected now draws current even when it looks like everything is off. It could be the IPDM doesn't have anything to do with it in this case. You may have to work with Osram tech support to get good answers.

johnnyn -- There are a number of different brand names / sellers, but an example of the one I'm using is available on eBay from seller "zhumall": "DRL LED Daytime Running Light Relay Harness Automatic On Off Control Switch 12V." ($12.13 w/ free shipping). I picked a seller that stocks them in the US for faster delivery. It's the controller w/ all necessary wiring. It has a wire to connect to the turn sigs if you want the LED's to flash in tandem with them, and a wire to connect to the headlights or parking lights to dim the LED's at night if you want. But the main connections to the LED's (you must provide) will turn them on when you start the car, and then they will go off about 20 secs. after you turn the car off. I haven't needed to disconnect the IPDM, but my electrical system maintains a steady 13.2 volts while driving, so there hasn't been a issue about them staying on consistently while driving. Also I've had no battery discharging issues, altho the longest I've gone without starting the car is about ten days. (And it's an old battery.)
