Question on rear window tint......

For those that have tinted the rear window, does the tint cover the 3rd brake light behind the glass? i'd imagine you'd have to ask for the tint to be cut to account for the light so as to not cover it but i wasnt sure.....I dont really want the light to be covered by the tint so I guess i'll be asking for a special cut if thats the case.....

Mines cut out to.. I don't think they want to get sued by covering the light.

Tail light is uncovered. Didn't ask or even know they were doing it.

My tint covers the third brake light but my tint is pretty light. I think it is 35% tint on all of the windows. It might be 30%. TN allows up to 65% on the windows but I like the lighter amount on a silver car. But anyway, third brake light is covered.

Mine is not cut around it. I have a pretty mild tint. But they never asked; they just did it. To be honest, I never gave it any thought until it was brought up on this site. I wouldn't have wanted it cut out if they had asked. IMO, it doesn't look right to me cut out. But, of course, that's personal. Each to his own.

No cut out on ine, looks better that way IMO. Not sure why some shops cut around the 3rd brake light, seems like more work. Maybe they're conditioned to make the cutout due to local law enforcement? Though doubt the cutout would make much of a difference if the rest of the windows are tinted..

Most tint shops will cut around the brake light because it's easier for the tint to lay down vs fighting any bubbles behind the light. If you have a preference I would ask before they start.

For 650 bucks they'd better do what I want.

Mine is not cut out. I agree with STown, it gives it a much cleaner look. Also i have 5% and have never been stopped, it still illuminates plenty of light
