Hi guys,
I have a 2012 G37 journey. I was wondering if it was possible to turn on the front headlights only and not the tail lights. I know many other kinds of cars do this, thanks!

 

Are you in North America? What other car does this? Seriously, I'm asking.

 

yes you can....but you have to take your tail light assembly off your car..That'll work real good

Do you mean the headlight or the accessory/parking light? If you mean the accessory then no I don't think so stock, but it can be done. I had a friend who got halo headlights done and had them wired to his accessory lights, but he didn't like how that made the taillights slightly illuminate, so he had it rewired. Obviously they both come on when the headlights are on. He said It cost $30 and took 20 minutes (not an Infiniti though) hope this helps

Never seen a cop car that had lights that operated this way. I can't think of any application in law enforcement where headlights without tail lights would be necessary. If they exist, it's not because any vehicle manufacturer sold it this way because that's illegal. And I'm not going to tell OP how to easily accomplish this because then I'd be enabling That Guy.

 

I've only seen that on cannonball cars, smugglers cars and a few others. Seems like a very limited use mod.

My local guys have that little "option". It comes in handy.

I think the technicality aspect is missing. Many manufacturers do this with DRLs in the states. It is incredibly annoying. Many drivers have no idea when to turn their lights on at dusk or during inclement weather as it is. This is exacerbated by the false sense of lighting operation with many DRLs. Due to this design, drivers see 'headlights' shining in front and don't think about the fact that their black or gray, rear caboose with no tails is invisible in the fog. I'm not sure how the NHTSA has allowed this for so long.

Why anyone would want to intentionally do this to their vehicle is puzzling.

 

Many mods are installed with no regard for safety. Certainly in this case having no tail lights is hazardous at night. But to some, looking “cool” is all that matters. I don’t understand it either.

 

I know a guy that has it done on his Greenwood Corvette. He also has radar detectors, jammers and a white noise generator I think.

In his case I know why he has it set up like that. Though I think the noise of an 8 second car trying to outrun someone would make it fairly easy to follow.

Sorry guys I meant daytime running lights, my dad's minivan has them and my friend's FRS has them but I gues Infiniti doesn't
