Review Sea Sucker Suction Cup Bike Rack

Sea Sucker Suction Cup Bike Rack
I will be taking my G on a trip from Phoenix to Chicago this weekend and I need a bike rack to carry my fixie.
Initially I contemplated what type of rack to get. I didn't want my trunk getting scratched, no way I'm putting a hitch on it, and roof racks such as Thule and Yakima are fairly expensive. This ran me $270 from amazon and it came with a spare suction cup. I had to purchase the road bike rear tire adapter separately.
I went with the Sea Sucker Talon which is for a single bike. They also make a kit that holds two bikes. So far I've read nothing but great reviews about this thing. At first I was a little skeptical about it but I'm hoping it is as good as everyone makes it seem.
I'll keep you guys posted on how it goes but here's what it looks like out of the box.

So I got it mounted, I'm actually surprised with how well it holds it (knock on wood).. So far it seems very sturdy, no wobble when turning or any of that. I have only taken it a few blocks around town but I leave tomorrow for Chicago so I'll keep everyone posted!
I haven't found the perfect spot for it yet, right now I have it offset towards the drivers side. It comes with a window clip and eyelet so you can lock it to the car which was a huge plus. When I have more time I'll post some pics of what spot works best.

I've had the same Talon for over a year. It works just like advertised. Many of us in the Tri community use them so I felt comfortable putting my prized 2 wheeled possession on the car.
I don't have pictures, but my buddy and I traveled 200 miles round trip with both of our bikes mounted on Talons on the roof of his Maxima. No issues at all.

Well after 1700 miles this thing is rock solid. I didn't have a single issue, no loss of suction, no retightening, nothing. Half the time i forgot it was even up there lol.
We hit some high winds, probably 40-50mph along with traveling around 70mph and it held its ground. I believe its rated at 85mph tops, it handled that fine (when passing cars of course), I'm sure it could handle more i just havent tried.
My favorite part about this thing is that they found a way to lock it. They have an eyelet available for purchase that sits on the window, you close the window and can attach a lock to it. Incredibly handy since i stayed over night and didnt want it stolen. Some people found it to ruin tinted windows, i just put a couple pieces of paper on the window before i rolled it up and had no problems.
All in all this things is a tank. I would recommend it to everyone, great price, great quality and an even better product. Keep in mind to, they make racks for various of things not just bikes so go check them out at Seasucker.com
