Discontinued IPL Side Sills :(

Hey guys,

I'm feeling a bit discouraged after placing an order for some IPL side sills for my graphite shadow 2013 S coupe only to find that they've been discontinued in that color.

I've been kicking around the idea of purchasing the sills in another color and having a body shop sand/paint them to match. I'm just wondering what the paint/body experts have to say about this option and what I should expect cost/quality wise for the paint work.

Thanks!

Why put IPL badge on your car when it's not a IPL?

That's like putting a GT badge on a non-gt mustang or SS badge on a base model camaro. ...

I agree with you that isn't the most honest/tasteful practice, but I didn't say anything about putting an IPL badge on my car. The question was framed toward buying and painting IPL/Aero side skirts.

Thumbs down for qman not even remotely being on the same subject.

But I'd call around and find estimates around your area. If you would post your location some locals on here might recommend you some shops. You shouldn't have any problems. It'll just be a lot more expensive than just buying them in your color.

Yea, not the most keen reply haha. All good though.

Good idea calling out the locale, thanks! I'm in San Jose, CA for anyone who has any suggestions on paint shops. Just placed the order for the parts.

Time to hunt for a shop.

When you said side sills I was thinking interior door sills.

I always called those side skirts and not "sills" but I guess it's the same thing.

That's where the confusion was.

I thought you wanted door sills that said IPL

No worries. The parts official name is "Aero side sill", but I was totally calling them skirts as well when I first started looking.

In total agreement though, never up-badge your car to look like something it isn't. Always better to have a sleeper.
