Help would be appreciated for this debadge smh

So I debadged my trunk and after taking it all off it left all this mess.. Looks like the paint was rubbed off or something it's just really faded from rubbing all the adhesive off.. Is there anything yall would recommend I could do to make it look better instead of me now having to get my trunk re painted.. All help would be much appreciated from yall , thanks a lot

What did you use to remove the adhesive? Looks like there's still some on there. Hopefully a compound followed by a polish will have it looking proper unless the adhesive remover affected the clear coat.

its literally an eraser. The wheel actually breaks apart similar to when you erase on paper. Unless you put it on the fastest drill speed and never move it, it won't hurt the paint.

Spray some WD40 on there and let it sit for 30 seconds or so then wipe with a towel, repeat until the adhesive is gone. Wash the WD40 off and clean it up with some compound and polish. Be VERY careful on the trunk with the compound, and or a buffer. I found out that the clear can be thin on the back of the trunk lid the hard way. Good Luck.

Thanks man for the help! I'm gonna try that one too I thought about buying some meguiars Polish and wax compound and using a buffer for it to clean it all up as well.. What ended up happening to your trunk? How'd you fix it?

That goof-off is a pretty strong solvent, more so than GooGone which is typically recommended. Hopefully all that's back there is some gooey adhesive and no damage to your paint. If you just have some shadow ghosting from the emblem that can be handled easily w/ ultimate compound followed by wax, just take it easy, and rather than trying to compound too aggressive, just do the whole area lightly, then remove the compound to see your progress, then repeat a couple more times if needed rather than one aggressive pass.

If that picture is actually a damaged clearcoat then you may need more help than just the compound, hopefully that's not the case.

Agreed. This took off some weird solidified adhesive that was under the license plate from the previous owner. This is a good place to start with something you probably have in the garage already.
