Upgraded to Tsx-r lens
After a lot of searching around on this site and coming up with old threads (about two years old) I decided to start a new one with a bit more detail as far as process and things I had to do that are required. Moderators feel free to move this thread to the right place if needed. Well, let me start off with its a PIA to do. This has been the second time doing this to a set of headlights for me and it seemed to have gotten worse after the first time I did this on my previous vehicle. What I thought it would take a day to complete turned into 2 full days of work and 1 entire day thinking of how and what I needed to do to make it nice. It isn't a simple swap for our cars. I had to use 3 spacers on each side and a total of 12 #8 washers per reflector (3 on each nipple) although for the top two nipples I ran out of aluminum washers so I used two aluminum and one nylon washer (ANA) if that even makes a difference. And slightly bent the shield forward away from bulb because after the spacing was done, the cut off was like 3 steps instead of just a single step. Cut off is sharp and colorful although my right side tends to bow at the ends. Might need to space the bulb also. This mod will take alot of time and patience so don't rush.
I did the sedan version (the bigger STiR lens), best $50 mod I've done. It was pretty easy since I already had everything else torn apart. The phillips screws are almost welded on but luckily I was able to get in there w/ a ratchet driver.
I think the coupe uses a different mount setup.
I wish I had used the metal washer to get more spacing, I just used a thicker cardboard washer as I didn't really like how the lens was secured using the wire ring. If I ever have to crack them open again I'll add more spacing.
But yeah, the whole painting headlight DIY is a PITA, but worth it as long as you don't have to do it again, lol.
Thanks for the review. If you want to add pics and a few more install details I can move it to the new review folder.
