Any way to remove cup holder cover in G Sedan?

Hey,

This cup holder enclosure mechanism is annoying the way it sticks up and hits my arm (when on the armrest) when it is not folded down. Is there any way to remove it? I looked and it seems hooked into the cup holder itself. Frustrating to say the least.

Looking at the Infiniti parts site...it looks like an assembly and the lid cannot be purchased separately which may mean it can't be removed (or removed easily). You may have to take it out of the console and see if there is a way to remove the lid. Good luck.

Ah, so it bugs you that the cup holder lid sticks up past the console lid. I never notice that, since my drinks usually are sticking up higher than that. Its the drink that is the problem, not the lid.
But anyway, I'm sure you could tear it apart and remove that lid if its that important to you.

There's some threads around here in the audio stereo section that show how to remove that console.

Hey everyone,

So, i proceeded to follow the instructions on the link above, however, our center console is different than the 2009 model. Can anyone advise how to get the cup holders out? I see the screw that i want to remove, but i can't get to it, (tucked away on the left hand side of the console).

I removed 2 screws that seem to hold the cup holders in place, but they won't budge, i yanked them up down left right, no luck any way.

Anyone have any success? I have the shift boot removed, the other part of the center console assembly is no problem to take apart, but this won't move.

Thanks,

Brett

Ha, that's the first time I noticed the cup holder is shaped like the Infiniti symbol.

Thanks, how did you find that?

Anyone help me interpret them? I can only see a few screws i need to access, but am unable to reach them by way of the armrest? Am I missing something? Ugh so frustrating

The first thing you need to do is introduce a vacuum to that poor G. Lol.

If you do figure out how to get the cup holder out, please post it up. Due to an unfortunate incident with a soda, my cover now tends to stick when it's in the open position, and I have to give it a rather forceful push to un-stick and close it. I'd like to pull it out and clean it up, before the plastic decides it's going to break rather than come loose. I am hopeless at deciphering those exploded view diagrams, though.

I don't remember how I found it, but you can get the full service manual for any year G37 by going here:

Taking apart interior trim is frustrating if you don't have good instructions. A lot of pieces are just snapped together and can be pried apart, but you don't know if prying is going to break something unless you have some knowledge of how it goes together.

I will keep attempting, but likely will turn to the help of the audio shop, dont want to break any panneling. It seems we need to remove the center console box we need to get to the cupholders
