G37/Q60 coupe headlight bulb help
I have a 2014 Q60 coupe. I got some 8k hids and they shut off right after I turn the lights on, they stay on for 2 seconds then shut off. They tend to stay on if I turn the lights on and off about 3 or 4 times which is very annoying . Does anyone know what this problem is and also if you know of any aftermarket lights on your car from around the same year, which ones look and work the best ? The 2014 Q60 I believe should have the same bulb type and setup as the previous G37 coupes. Let me know
2012 and up have different "higher end" ballasts that are very picky with their bulb types, temperatures and brands. Osrams or true Phillips should both work, but Osrams are 5000k and Phillips are 4300K or 6000K... I don't know of any bulbs that would work that are 8000k ... I suppose you could always change out the ballasts.
I have an 08 that had the same issue. I've bought at least three different bulbs. They would turn off a few seconds or almost instantly after turning them on. I tried buying through eBay first; which a friend of mine did and his bulbs worked great on his g, however I didn't have the luck. Tried another set from eBay which yielded the same result, then tried diodedynamics bulbs which were a bit better, but while driving they would cut off after a few bumps. Finally I ended up going to the retrofitsource. The bulbs from them actually turn on right for the most part, I still have some issues with my passenger side every now and then but still their success rate was far better and a lot more tolerable.
As for them turning off like that, I would either recommend another set of bulbs, or even changing out the hid kit for a stronger ballasts. They weren't igniting properly so I don't know if it is just the cheap bulbs I bought, or the ballasts are actually not meant for that bulb.

Had that happened to my driver d2s bulb swapped it out for a pair of cbi and no more flickering at all. You could even tey hyperion bulbs there work for me well to and cheap. I rexently just switched over to osrams. But the price isnquite different between the 2.
Thanks for the info everyone. Wondering if theres something out there that will work with 8k. I have 8k fogs want them to go with my headlights. Anyone know if there is any out there that will work?

I have the same issue and paid closed to $200 for my HID with the new ballasts.. smh
Sometimes they won't even turn on and I have to turn the car off and then turn it back on.. I thought I messed up on the wiring but seems like a common issue.

I have 8000k fogs that work pretty well. I have a lower set I put in myself, I followed a post from here to do it. Quite simple about a 4/10 in difficulty.
And I put 8000k fogs with ballasts in the main slot just down a bit from the cats eye main bulb. Let me know my friend if you need any input, pictures, or help of any nature getting them in should that be what you intend to do.
Best of luck!!!

I just replaced mine with the OEM Phillips bulbs and upgraded to the TSXR clear lense. Now the light reflects and appears purple to oncoming traffic but its most definitely white and bright on the road to me.

I know the OP is referring to the 8000k HID Bulbs, but OSRAM has since came out with a 6000K HID bulb that they labeled as CBH. I believe the CBH were released a few months back. It is supposedly brighter than their CBI, but who knows. It t could all just be marketing.
